The starting point for the exhibition was the question of the nature of time, as posed by Marcel Proust in his eponymous literary masterpiece, that gave the exhibition its title. The exhibition explored how time can be made visible, experienced, and questioned in art. The works on display critically examined temporal systems of order, explored the transience of matter and ideas, or depicted movements and changes in a single snapshot. On display were different artistic positions that, in painting, sculpture, photography, and installation works, placed the past, present, and future in an exciting dialogue.
