The core aspects of the Pohl Collection were presented for the first time. The initial section not only highlighted the variety of media in the collection, but also showed how artists explore the world and unveil aspects that would otherwise remain hidden from view.
The second part introduced one of the collection's principal focal points: abstract painting of the past forty years, in which color is experienced within the dynamic interplay between materiality and appearance. Pigments, supports, and the modes of their application raise questions concerning the visibility of both the sensual and the conceptual effects of painting that does not seek to represent anything figurative.
With works by Katharina Grosse, Alicja Kwade, Wolfgang Tillmans, Timm Ulrichs, and others.
